NOVEMBER 2020

Member Monitoring Service

Alcor is excited to announce we recently finished alpha testing a new check-in service and we signed an agreement with one of our strategic partners!  The service supports live daily calls, at a predetermined time, from an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to confirm you are well and inquire about any changes to your health status.  If you do not answer the call after several tries, the EMT will alert a designated contact, such as a friend or neighbor, to check on you!

In addition to live daily calls from an EMT, the service comes with a smartphone app!  The app supports several features, including:
  • Member electronic check-in to skip a call from an EMT for the day;
  • Mobile Emergency Response Service to immediately connect you to an EMT 24/7;
  • Geolocation enabled Pin Drop feature so you can be found in case of an emergency;
  • And other features!
Alcor is starting a beta phase for the next few months with a limited number of members to field test the check-in service.  Alcor plans to announce general availability and pricing for the service in Spring 2021.
RAPID
Readiness And Procedure Innovation Deployment
We are excited to announce Alcor is embarking on a monumental advancement in cryonics research!  The Readiness And Procedure Innovation Deployment (“RAPID”) project is envisioned to support Alcor’s Mission, “advancement of cryonics technology through research and development.”  RAPID supports the furtherance of cryonics research and improvements to Stabilization, Standby, and Transport (SST) procedures.

The first project under RAPID is to provide surgical training for qualified Alcor employees and strategic partners.  Alcor will be acquiring cadavers used for medical research through a third-party organization.  Upon successful acquisition, Alcor will host one of our local surgeons to provide surgical training.  RAPID will improve Alcor’s surgical team’s skills to better serve our members while concurrently advancing critical research initiatives.  Surgical training is only the first phase of RAPID, and Alcor is developing exciting plans for future research projects!

Steve Graber, Director of Innovation & Blake Honiotes, Medical Response Director
Giving Tuesday, December 1, 2020
Steve Graber presented a Readiness And Procedure Innovation Deployment (“RAPID”) proposal during the 2020 Annual Strategic Board Meeting.  His RAPID presentation can be watched online here.  Over the last two months Alcor has received numerous messages from members supporting the RAPID initiative!

In order to advance the science and reputation of cryonics, Alcor plans to conduct ongoing research to develop novel and near-future products related to cryopreservation procedures and protocols.  The RAPID team is developing relationships and contracts to procure recently deceased human cadavers, which are not Alcor members or patients, but are already earmarked for medical research.

Blake Honiotes and Steve Graber, with support from medical industry experts and Alcor’s surgeon, have begun work to implement the RAPID program.  Alcor is very excited to launch RAPID and we are fundraising across multiple platforms to support cryonic research.

Alcor is requesting donations this Giving Tuesday, December 1, 2020, to fund research envisioned through the RAPID program.  All donors will receive quarterly reports from Alcor regarding the progress with fundraising and milestone achievements rising from the RAPID program!

Any level of donation is appreciated, and you have the option to become a sustaining donor with monthly reoccurring donations that support this important research.  Please donate today to support Alcor’s RAPID initiative.  Alcor is a non-profit, federally tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) corporation and your donation may be tax deductible.
